I took a plunge and purchased a pair of wedge sneakers.
To give you a back story, I despise sneakers – I suppose now I should be writing in the past tense since I obviously don’t abhor them now.
I used to be a firm believer that women should wear sneakers only at the gym, and still try to find a more viable option, like glove shoes, for example. Though they’re hideous in their own way, at least I can be sure that no one will wear them with a dress and think it’s cute. Sneakers to me, were more functional than fashionable and did nothing for one’s legs. Enter: wedge sneakers.
Everyone is producing them, and everyone is wearing them. They’ve fast become ubiquitous on the style blogger circuit that I follow and it was only a matter of time before I gave into self-inflicted peer pressure and started looking for a pair.
Assuming I’d hate them, I opted to purchase a cheap pair from Go Jane first. I decided to test the waters with a gold pair I found for about US $40. Not bad for a one off trend.
Now that I’ve established I don’t hate them, I’m looking forward to the purchase of another. This time I think I’ll opt for a more luxe pair of Steve Madden LLEVE’s.
But there are SO MANY options available: from high end iterations like Giuseppe Zanotti, Chloé, Isabel Marant and Lemaré, to mid-range options like Aldo, Steve Madden, ASOS and Kurt Geiger. If you don’t want to spend too much, you can always check out the range at Go Jane, Charlotte Russe and Pacsun.
I will leave you with a photo of my new kicks in action, composed and shot by the Boy with his Samsung Galaxy S3 (I’m obligated to say that).
